A free map of the countries you've visited

Track your travels on a clean world map: tap a country to mark it as visited, lived in, or on your wish list, or search for it by name. Small countries and islands that are hard to tap, like Malta, Singapore or the Maldives, appear as dots and can be added from the search box. The counter shows how many of the world's 195 countries you've been to, what percentage that is, and how far you've got on each continent.

When you're happy with it, download your travel map as a square image for Instagram or a wide one for a blog post or desktop. The image carries your name, your country count, your percentage of the world and a small continent breakdown. Or copy a share link, which puts the whole map in the URL so friends can open it and compare.

It's a digital alternative to a scratch-off map: nothing to scratch, nothing to frame, and you can update it after every trip. Your map stays in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored on our side. Want more than a still image? Turn it into an animated globe video of your travels in Mapimator Studio.

Frequently asked questions

How is the percentage of the world calculated?

It's the number of countries you've visited or lived in out of 195: the 193 UN member states plus the two UN observer states, Vatican City and Palestine. Territories and partially recognized places such as Taiwan, Kosovo, Greenland or Puerto Rico can still be marked, but they're counted separately so they don't inflate the percentage.

Is my travel map saved? Is it private?

Your map is stored only in your own browser (local storage), so it's there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is uploaded and you don't need an account. If you clear your browser data, the map goes with it, so copy your share link if you want a backup.

Can I share my visited countries map?

Yes. "Copy share link" creates a URL with your countries encoded in it, so anyone who opens it sees the same map. You can also download a square or wide PNG with your country count, percentage and continent breakdown, which works well for Instagram posts and stories.

How many countries are there in the world?

There are 195 countries by the most common count: 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City and Palestine, which have UN observer status. Other lists differ mainly in how they treat places like Taiwan and Kosovo.

What's the difference between Visited, Lived and Want to go?

Visited and Lived both count toward your total, and Lived gets a darker green so the places you've called home stand out. Want to go is a wish list in amber and isn't counted.

Can I turn my travel map into a video?

Yes. "Animate my travels" opens your map in Mapimator Studio on a 3D globe, starting from a world view, then touring up to 11 of the countries you've been to with each one highlighted. You can edit it there and export it as an MP4 video.
