Printable blank maps for any country or continent

The Blank Map Generator makes clean outline maps you can print or download in seconds: a blank world map, a blank map of Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, or Oceania, or a single country divided into its states, provinces, or regions. There are no tiles, roads, or place names in the way, just the shapes, drawn as flat outlines in the colors you choose.

Teachers use it for geography quizzes and coloring sheets. Switch labels to numbers and every country or state gets a number in map order, with a matching answer key that prints on its own page. Turn names on for a labeled reference map, or leave them off for a true blank map. Click shapes to shade them, for example to mark the countries a unit covers, the states a student has visited, or the regions in a homework question.

Every download is rendered at print resolution on a white page, independent of your screen size, so it stays crisp on A4 or US Letter. When a map needs to move rather than sit on paper, the same region opens in the Mapimator studio as an animated map video.

Frequently asked questions

Is the blank map generator free for classroom use?

Yes. The tool is free, needs no account, and the maps you make are yours to print, copy, and hand out in class, add to worksheets, or use in quizzes and presentations.

How do I print a blank map?

Choose an area, set the style, and press Print. The map is rendered at high resolution on its own page, sized to fit A4 or US Letter, with your title on top. In numbered quiz mode the answer key prints on a second page, so you can leave it out by printing page 1 only.

How high is the resolution of the PNG?

Downloads are about 3,600 × 2,500 pixels, enough for a sharp full page at 300 dpi. The map is rendered separately from your screen, so the result is the same on a laptop or a phone, on a white background with a small mapimator.com credit in the corner.

Which countries have state or province maps?

About 170 countries, including the United States (50 states plus DC), Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India, China, Australia, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. Pick a country under “Countries with states / provinces”; the number in brackets is how many subdivisions it has.

Can I make a map quiz with numbers instead of names?

Yes. Set Labels to Numbers and every shape gets a number, ordered across the map from top-left so numbers don't follow the alphabet. The matching answer key shows in the sidebar, prints on a separate page, and can be downloaded as a text file.

Where does the map data come from?

State and province outlines come from Natural Earth, a public domain map dataset, and country outlines from a simplified world dataset derived from it, so there are no license fees or restrictions. A credit isn't required, but each export carries a small “Made with Natural Earth” note. Borders are simplified for clarity and show de facto boundaries.
